In this moment

it will, for us, in this moment

Born from Sally Guzman's personal journey through loss in 2025, In This Moment transforms the isolation of grief into a communal act of remembrance. Inspired by the myth of the forest witch who offers to simply listen. Sally has created a physical threshold for the weary. It is a place built for the "us" and the "now"—a sanctuary where telling a story makes the lost present once more.

About This Project

We're building something for all of us — and we need your help to make it happen.

This project belongs to our Burning Man community. The open space we're creating is for everyone, and we're already rolling up our sleeves and getting to work. But every great build needs a village behind it.

Here's how you can show up for us:

šŸ”Ø**Donate building supplies, knickknacks, or books** — we'll put everything to use

ā˜• **Fuel the crew** — our build team runs on tacos and caffeine (donations to our GoFundMe go directly toward keeping the crew going)

šŸŽ‰ **Come to one of our fundraisers** — good vibes, good people

šŸ—ļø **Join a build day** — if you're in the Reno/Carson area, come get your hands dirty with us!

Every contribution — big or small — brings this vision closer to reality. This is for YOU. Let's build it together.

What It Feels Like

I won't pretend this has been easy. But I can tell you honestly: I can't begin to describe the strength this build has given me. The support from this community, the open and honest conversations about grief, the reminder that we all need a space to share — it has made this one of the most powerful experiences of my life.

This project is currently in Fundraising stage. The experience above reflects the artist's vision for the completed work.

materials: books and teacups and broomsticks and spiderwebs and ivy and cauldrons and potion bottles and mysterious knickknacks and mushrooms and mice and flowers and clocks and comfy chairs and journals and trees

regenerative practices: thrifing and reusing, solar and environmentally friendly lighting, scraps and odds and ends

The Story Behind It

In May of 2025 I lost my father. Burning Man 2025 I took a letter I had written my dad when i was six and my overflowing grief to the temple. After finding a space for my letter I found a space at the heart of the temple. I was surrounded by my community, my friends - you - and I've never felt so alone. I was reminded of a short story about a grieving traveler making a journey to the forest witch's cottage. The traveler is exhausted, grieving; "but I've come all this way, can nothing be done?" the witch responds "Come inside, sit down. Tell me about them." a shred of hope, a lightening of the eyes "Will it bring them back?" "It will, for us, in this moment." I wanted to turn to the person next to me at the temple and say "Tell me about them". I wanted to tell someone about my dad. His love of reading, his kindness. His laugh. The solemn dignity of the temple kept me from asking; the sacred solitude kept me from listening. In this moment will be a space for sharing, a simple inviting forest-witch kitchen with comfy chairs, mismatched tea settings and an open invitation to sit, tell me about them.
