Luis Echeverria
Master Bamboo Builder & Fabrication Specialist
Luis Echeverria is a master bamboo builder and fabrication specialist with deep expertise in traditional and contemporary bamboo construction techniques. Born and raised in Colombia, Luis learned bamboo craft from three generations of builders before expanding his practice internationally.
His work sits at the intersection of ancestral building knowledge and modern fabrication methods, combining hand-selected bamboo species, traditional joinery, and contemporary treatment processes to create structures that are both culturally rooted and architecturally ambitious. Luis has built bamboo structures for cultural centers, eco-resorts, and art installations across Colombia, Mexico, and Indonesia.
As fabrication lead on the Resonance project, Luis oversees bamboo selection, treatment, bending, and assembly, translating parametric engineering drawings into physical reality through a combination of precision craft and adaptive problem-solving on site.
Artist Statement
Bamboo teaches patience. Every pole has its own character. You learn to listen to the material, work with its grain, and let the structure grow from the ground up. The best buildings are grown, not forced.
